Beschrijving
Primaire Hypothyreoïdie is een schildklieraandoening die wordt gekenmerkt door verminderde productie van thyroxine. Thyroxine is een hormoon dat de snelheid van de stofwisseling reguleert. Auto immuun Thyreoiditis is de meest voorkomende vorm waarbij het immuunsysteem de producerende cellen in de schildklier aantast. Door de verlaagde stofwisseling kunnen de honden slecht tegen kou en worden sloom.
